What I wouldn't give to live in Midland again

I was born in Odessa in 1973.  I moved to Midland when I was 6.  Lived there until I was 23.

Yes, that means that it has been 10 years since I was physically located in the great state of Texas.  I haven't even been back since 2002.

I miss it.

I miss eating at Taco Villa.  I miss feeding the ducks at the duck pond on A St.  I miss watching baseball games at Christianson Stadium.  Not in the bleachers...but sitting behind the outfield wall and watching through cracks in the billboards.  I also miss going to watch the annual tilt between Lee and MHS.  I miss playing basketball on the outdoor court at Lee.  I miss the fact that I could drive 3 blocks and be at my grandparents house.  I miss real Mexican food and Bar-B-Que.  I miss always running into someone you haven't seen in a while every time you go to the mall or Wal-Mart.

I think more than anything...I miss the warmth of Midland.  Yes, I am referring to the climate...seeing as to how there is a 53 degree difference between Midland and where I am.  That is correct...Midland is at 21...we are at a balmy -32.  But more than that...I am referring to the warmth of the city and its people.  Midland...where men still hold doors open for women.  Where people still calll others sir and maam.  Midland...where people wave at complete strangers just for the sake of being friendly.

I miss calling Midland home.
