Here are some updates for ultimate fight night live.
First Fight
Hermes Franca vs Spenser Fischer. Franca wins in 2nd round by referee stoppage due to strikes.
Second Fight
Heath Herring vs. Jake O'Brien by decision.1st Round (O'Brien) : O'Brien knocked down briefly from left jab. O'Brien scores with (2) decisive take downs, but cannot get a submission on Herring.
2nd Round: (O'Brien) O'Brien scores 2 take downs on Herring using the single leg. Herring is cut on the forehead from an elbow strike and seems to be in some trouble. This must be a new strategy for Herring to allow O'Brien to pound his face at will and hope maybe O'Brien will tire from beating him?
3rd Round: (O'Brien) O'Brien already dominating the 3rd round, but so far cannot put Herring away. Herring is throwing wildy unable to connect well with O'Brien and is not defending any take-downs from O'Brien. Herring scores a wild right to the chin of O'Brien then misses the submission. Herring closes the round with some wild punches of which some connect, but he was unable to do any serious damage.
Third Fight
Ed Herman ( by submission ) vs. Chris Price1st Round: Early on Prices unsuccessfully goes for the kamura. Herman later moves into Prices guard. Herman transitions into an armbar and submits Price at 2:58 in the first round.
Main Event
Sean Salmon vs. Rashad Evans by KO
1st Round (Salmon): So far uneventful. Evans is circling trying to setup a big hook. Salmon looks a little nervous but does manage to score a take down. Evans manages to get back to his feet after shortly grappling from guard. Salmon manages to score a second take down from a single leg. Salmon landing a few shots, but so far no damage on Evans. Evans does not seem to be able to land any solid shots in the first round. I gave that round to Salmon due to the 2 take downs 10-9.
2nd Round: (Evans) Salmon in trouble early due to a kick to the head. Salmon recovers, but is later knocked out on his feet due to a solid kick to the head by Evans that I'm sure will be on the UFC highlight reel for years to come.
2 minutes after the fight, Salmon is still down. In the replay you can see Salmon missing a punch to Evans with Evans countering quickly with a high kick to the head that connected on the jaw of Salmon sending him bouncing to the mat. Salmon is out immediately after the kick. Salmon is now up off the mats and appears to be fine.
Randy 'The Natural' Couture is coming back to the octogon March 3 to challenge Tim 'The Maniac' Silva for the Heavy weight title belt. According to UFC insider he has signed a 4 fight deal with the folks at the UFC. In an interview with Joe Rogan, Roandy states that Tim fights too conservatively lately and that style won't get him where he wants to go.
